Post-Crescent sports reporter Ricardo Arguello goes one-on-one with Appleton United (Appleton North) girls’ hockey player Emma Kohl:

Q: How is your team doing this season? Are you ladies at where you thought you’d be heading into the season?

A: Our team is right where where we thought we would be this time in the season. We’re showing improvement every week and have just started to scratch the surface of our potential. Our record is 7-6-2 putting us just above 500. We have really come together as a team against some tough opponents, which has strengthened us as a group.

Q: Let’s pretend you’re the head of the WIAA. What are some changes to girls’ hockey that you would like to see implemented?

A: If I was the head of the WIAA, I would allow girls to be able to body check. Being a defense, it would make my job easier if I could hit, and would also reduce the amount of penalties I get due to checking. I think that it would bring in more fans as well as add some more fun to the game!

Q: What is the greatest invention in the past 50 years?

A: I would have to say the iPhone. How else would I stay connected with my friends and family? There’s everything on it and it’s definitely something I don’t leave the house without.

Q: Congrats! You just won two VIP tickets to see any musical artist of your choice. Who would you see and whom would you take with you?

A: I would take my best friends Priyanka and Nate to go see the beautiful Drake perform.

Q: It’s favorites time! What’s your favorite movie?

A: My favorite movie is a tie between “Mean Girls” and “Despicable Me.”

Q: Favorite Christmas present from this past year?

A: My favorite Christmas present that I got from this past year is a keyboard. I used to play the piano and now I’m picking it back up. It’s a great stress reliever.

Q: Favorite Hollywood dream date?

A: Watching Channing Tatum rehearse for his movie “Magic Mike.”

Q: Favorite place to relax at your house?

A: My room because when I relax it usually leads to sleeping. So what better place to relax then on my bed?

Q: Favorite store at the Fox River Mall?

A: Scheels.

Q: Favorite place to vacation?

A: Cancun, Mexico. It’s beautiful and warm there.

Q: Favorite TV show?

A: “How I Met Your Mother.”

Q: Favorite dessert?

A: Chocolate covered strawberries from Edible Arrangements and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Q: Favorite aspect of Appleton North High School?

A: My favorite aspect of Appleton North High School is our weight and fitness room. It’s coed.

Q: Congratulations! You just won $100 million in the PowerBall! What are the first three things you’re buying with the loot?

A: The first three things i would buy if I won $100 million in the PowerBall are 1. A puppy; 2. A cottage on a lake near my Aunt Joan; and 3. a vacant building so I can start my own cupcake shop.

Q: What are your plans for college? Do you plan on playing sports? What will be your major?

A: I don’t have any specific plans for college. I will play hockey in college if I get the opportunity. I’ll most likely major in sociology or something related to human services.
