Plays of the Week

Counting down the best high school football plays from the weekend. Vote for the top play below.

5. Happy Birthday, Jacob Zinda

The Temescal Canyon (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) DB returned an interception 109 yards for a touchdown during a loss to Norte Vista (Riverside, Calif.) on his big day.

4. Kelvin Cook’s Xbox Run

Colerain (Cincinnati) QB Kelvin Cook broke off a silly 95-yard touchdown in a 42-28 win over Trinity (Louisville).

3. Only a Freshman?

Chester (Ill.) freshman Demontae Martin is going to be a force for the varsity football team in due time.

2. Laying Out

We’re talking about the first play here, but feel free to watch the remaining four, which are impressive in their own right. Chiefland (Fla.) wide receiver Deshawn Roland goes full extension to make a one-handed grab.

1. Absolutely Ridiculous

There’s no other way to describe the crazy finish between Skyview (Vancouver, Wash.) and Columbia River (Wash.) last week.

  • Jacob Zinda’s birthday return
  • Kelvin Cook’s Xbox run
  • Demontae Martin’s punt return
  • Deshawn Roland’s one-handed catch
  • Columbia River’s improbable win

Did we miss an incredible play? It’s entirely possible. Leave it in the comments or send me a note @USATODAYhss.
