If the choreographed dismount executed by the top six pole vaulters at the Wisconsin Division I Track & Field State Championships is any indication, we could all use more pole vaulters in our lives. These guys seem fun.
One by one, the six medalists hopped onto the podium. After first-place finisher Jake Wallenfang of Green Bay Preble was recognized, the second- through sixth-place finishers backflipped onto the ground. Wallenfang remained on the podium as his fellow medalists gathered behind him to catch him as he fell backwards into their arms.
Wallenfang, who cleared a state record 16 feet at the meet, will compete on the track and field team at Wisconsin. First, he must rehab a torn posterior cruciate ligament he suffered while playing in an all-star football game last weekend.
