Poudre soccer player to compete in contest in Los Angeles

By

Fort Collins soccer player Juan Hernandez is going to Hollywood.

The 14-year-old from Poudre High School is the youngest finalist among 18 youth soccer players chosen for a televised contest to find the best undiscovered soccer talent in North America.

Dubbed the National Finals of Sueno MLS 2013, the contest whittled participants down through local market tryouts.

Hernandez’s local tryout was hosted by the Colorado Rapids on April 20 in Denver. After two days of tryouts featuring hundreds of hopefuls, Hernandez was chosen as one of just six players to represent the Rapids in Los Angeles.

The National Finals will be at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., from Thursday through Sunday, and the winner and top goalie will be announced Sunday.
