Prep baseball: Lincoln holds off GB Notre Dame

The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team scored four runs in the first inning and six in the fourth and held off a late Green Bay Notre Dame rally in a 10-6 home win on Thursday.

Nick Spurney started and pitched an inning while teammate Brock Meyer pitched four innings of relief to earn the win.

Notre Dame scored two runs each in the first, fifth and seventh innings.

Offensively, Lincoln was led by Carl Samz who was 2-for-2 while Brennan Mrotek was 1-for-2 with an RBI double in his first game back from an injury. Also for the Ships, Spurney, Devon Seiler and Byron Anderson were 2-for-4.

The No. 8-seeded Ships next will host No. 9 Beaver Dam in a regional opener of the WIAA Division 1 State Boys Baseball Tournament.

LATE TUESDAY Roncalli 11, Mishicot 1

Leading 2-1 entering the fourth inning, host Roncalli scored eight runs in the fifth inning for the win.

The Jets had seven hits as Steven Vogel was 2-for-2 with a double, a run and two RBI while Brett Bahrs had three walks, two RBI and one run.

Mishicot statistics were not submitted to the Herald Times Reporter as of press deadline.
