The Manitowoc Lutheran baseball team built an 8-5 lead entering the bottom of the sixth inning on Monday, only to have host Brillion score six in the inning to go on to win 11-9.
Peter Menges started for the Lancers and got the no decision going four innings allowing three runs — all earned — on seven hits while striking out three and walking one.
Lutheran’s Ryan LeClair went 3-for-5 with a double, run and RBI while teammates David Menk (2-for-3) and Ethan Hillmer (1-for-3) each had two RBI.
It was the season opener for both teams. Lutheran hosts Wrightstown today.
Sheb. South 12, Lincoln 7
The host Ships got four innings from starting pitcher Carl Sams, who allowed seven earned runs while striking out four in the Fox River Classic Conference home contest.
Byron Anderson drove in a team-high three RBI on 2-for-3 at the plate while teammate Nick Spurney (2-for-4) added two RBI of his own. Both players would each hit a double.
Saint Lawrence 8, Mishicot 0
The Indians were locked in a pitcher’s duel until the top of the fifth inning when visiting Saint Lawrence scored eight runs over the final three innings for the win.
Tanner Orth took the loss for Mishicot, going five innings allowing six runs — four earned — while striking out two and walking five.
Weston Cracraft, Derek Hlinak and Kyle Haskell each went 1-for-3 for the Indians, accounting for the team’s three hits.
