Prep baseball roundup: Lincoln falls in home doubleheader


The Manitowoc Lincoln baseball team lost both games of a home doubleheader by one run to Sheboygan North on Saturday.

In Game 1 the Ships were held to three hits and fell 4-3 after surrendering two runs each in the third and sixth innings. Lincoln rallied with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but with runners on first base and third base with two outs the final out was recorded via strikeout.

Brenna Mrotek started and took the loss as he left the game after three innings with an injury. BJ Anderson replace him and pitched four innings of relief.

Devon Seiler went 1-for-3 with a double for Lincoln.

Despite a strong performance from freshman starting pitcher Brock Meyer, Lincoln fell in Game 2 6-5.

Meyer pitched a complete game with two strikeouts and no walks as he allowed four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth.

Lincoln scored a pair in the fourth and three in the sixth as Travis DuPont went 2-for-3 with two doubles and four RBI. Brian Tlachac was also 1-for-4 for Lincoln.

Lincoln (4-7, 2-4 Fox River Classic Conference) next will host Pulaski on Tuesday.

Algoma 16, Mishicot 5

Tied 3-3 entering the fourth inning, host Mishicot allowed nine unanswered runs as Jeff Stueck pitched three innings of relief and allowed six runs — two earned — on four hits and five walks with two strikeouts.

The Indians’ No. 1-4 hitters each had one hit as Weston Cracraft was 1-for-1 with two runs and one walk and one steal, Brett Reinhart 1-for-2 with one run and one walk, Derek Hlinak 1-for-3 with a double three RBI and Derek Cornils 1-for-3. Tanner Orth also had three walks and two stolen bases for Mishicot.
