Despite winning just one game of a scheduled doubleheader, New Holstein got the edge on Kiel in an Eastern Wisconsin Conference doubleheader, held Monday at New Holstein.
New Holstein beat Kiel 6-5 in the opener, then Game 2 was called due to darkness with the score tied 9-9 after seven innings. It will not be resumed.
In the opener, Nick Walsh led Kiel (6-17, 4-12), going 2-for-3 with two RBI. Carter Voelker scored twice. Jordan Meyer took the loss, striking out 11 with six walks and seven hits allowed.
Brady Schmitz knocked in two runs for New Holstein (4-12, 4-9). Justin Weber got the win in three innings of one-hit relief.
In the second game, Justin Bertram led the Raiders by going 1-for-3 with three RBI. Meyer went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI and Tanner Woepse and Walsh also had two hits apiece.
Adam Schmitz went 3-for-4 with three RBI for the Huskies in Game 2.
Kewaskum 13-10, Two Rivers 3-0
The Raiders dropped a pair of EWC contests to drop to 4-13 in league play.
In the opener, Cory Johnson led the offense going 2-for-3. Brett Linzmeier took the loss.
TR managed just two hits in the second game, by Brock Gospodarek and Peter Gesch. Brett Kaper was the losing pitcher.
Kewaskum improved to 9-3 in the EWC. The Raiders will play a make-up of a suspended game, at New Holstein on Saturday.
