The Two Rivers high school baseball team pounded out 11 hits in a 17-4, six inning win over New Holstein in the first game of a doubleheader on Thursday.

A three-run first gave the Raiders an early advantage and they made the most of it, scoring in four of the game’s six innings.

Cameron Greene pitched four and 13 innings, earning the win for Two Rivers. He gave up three earned runs on two hits, walked seven and struck out three.

Brett Linzmeier went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Raiders with a double and three RBI. Teammates Brett Kasper and Kory Schrimpf each tacked on three RBI.

Game 2 of the twinbill was postponed due to rain with one out in the top of the second inning and the Huskies leading 2-1.

A make-up date has not been determined.

Late Wednesday Pulaski 7, Manitowoc 5

Hits were in short supply for the Manitowoc American Legion baseball team as they fell to Pulaski 7-5 on Wednesday night at Municipal Field.

Manitowoc (2-8-1) took a 3-0 edge courtesy of a three-run second inning, but Pulaski answered with two runs in the top of the third and two more in the fourth to take a 4-3 lead after four innings.

After allowing three runs in the sixth, Manitowoc scored two of its own in the home half of the seventh, but was unable to complete the comeback.

Jon Roberts took the loss for Manitowoc, working five and 23 innings allowing seven runs — four earned — on eight hits. He struck out one and walked three.

Ben Kohls accounted for two of Manitowoc’s five hits.

The Legion will be back in action today when they take on Menominee, Mich. in the opening round of the Marinette Firecracker Invitational.
