Tanner Woepse hit a walk-off suicide squeeze bunt to plate teammate Jordan Meyer as the Kiel baseball team defeated visiting Sheboygan Falls 5-4 in eight innings on Friday.
Woepse led the Raiders offensively by going 2-for-3 and the RBI.
Meyer earned the complete-game win, allowing four runs — three earned — on seven hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
Kiel took advantage of crucial Falcons mistakes, scoring one run in the fifth inning off a passed ball and three more with two outs on a throwing error in the sixth.
The Falcons took an early 2-0 lead after the first before rallying in the top of the seventh to score two more to force extras, but Woepse’s clutch squeeze put an end to the drama.
Ryan Halverson took the loss for Falls, allowing five runs — one earned — in eight innings of work while striking out seven. Nate Heili (1-for-4) paced the Falcons offensively with a double.
The win snapped a two-game losing streak for Kiel, allowing the Raiders to end their three-game homestand on a positive note.
Kiel (3-4, 1-1 Eastern Wisconsin Conference) plays at Howards Grove today.
