Tyler Zietz scattered three hits from Sheboygan South’s mound and added some punch on offense to help power the Redwings to a 6-1 win over Green Bay West on Thursday.
It’s the second win of the season for the junior pitcher, who tallied seven strikeouts and just one walk to collect the win. South improved to 10-3 overall, 6-2 in the Fox River Classic Conference.
“Tyler, he’s been solid for us,” South coach Craig Kloes said. “He was in command the whole way — a good command of his pitches today.”
Zietz was also the only batter to register multiple hits — he was 2-of-3 — for the Redwings, who otherwise got strong offense from Aaron Guitierrez, who punched in a two-run double in the second inning; and Mitchell Martinez, who brought in two runners on a third-inning single.
Jared Reklaitis batted in a score in the third, and Carter Amundsen knocked in one on a sac fly in the fourth.
