Nate Lassila scored a team-high 23 points and hit four 3-pointers but it wasn’t enough as the Roncalli boys basketball team fell 59-44 to Eden Prairie in the Wisconsin-Minnesota Border Battle on Saturday in Minnesota.
Lassila had the Jets running smooth early on, trailing the Eagles 19-17 with 9:27 left in the first half. Because the game was played in Minnesota, there were two 18-minute halves instead of the traditional four eight-minute quarters used by the WIAA.
After that, Eden Prairie began to pull away as Roncalli trailed 30-22 entering halftime.
In the second half the Jets battled back and got within five at 44-39 after an Isaiah Bessert 3 with under eight minutes to play but it was as close as they’d get the rest of the way.
