Prep boys basketball: Reedsville upsets Algoma 58-56

The No. 6 seeded Reedsville boys basketball team continued its remarkable run on Saturday, defeating No. 2 Algoma 58-56 in the WIAA Division 4 Boys State Basketball regional final.

The Panthers trailed 18-13 after the first quarter but rallied to tie the game at 24-24 entering halftime. They came alive in the third, outscoring Algoma 15-10 and held on late to complete the upset.

Bryce Wenzel scored a team-high 15 points for the Panthers, one of four players in double figures along with teammates Brock Gilsdorf (12), Brett Dvorachek (12) and Cody Schamburek (11). Gilsdorf and Dvorachek each added a pair of 3-pointers.

Reedsville (10-15) will take on No. 1 seed Shiocton (21-3) on Thursday in Kaukauna with tip scheduled for 7 p.m.
