After falling to Orono in the opening round of the 2011 Class AAA tournament and losing to the Spartans 58-51 last season, St. Cloud Apollo got a modicum of revenge Thursday as the Eagles stifled Orono in a 61-44 win at Apollo.

Apollo allowed just 12 second-half points and got 18 points from sophomore Ethan Novacinski in the win. Senior Jeremy Koffi added 13 points for the Eagles (0-1 CLC, 4-1) who bounced back from a 72-71 loss to Alexandria on Tuesday.

Eleven players scored for Orono in the loss but none scored more than 10 points. Junior Ethan Larson led the Spartans 10 points.

The Eagles next face St. Cloud Tech at Tech High School, 7:30 p.m. Friday.

ST. CLOUD APOLLO Ethan Novacinski 18, Ethan Carlson 8, Noel Tiegen 7, Michael Ashwill 5, Jeremy Koffi 13, Cole Johnson 5, Wes McDonell 5.
