Prep boys basketball: TR nearly leads wire-to-wire in win


The Two Rivers boys basketball team got off to a hot start offensively and scored a season high in a 77-54 road win over Kewaunee on Tuesday night.

The Raiders began the contest with a 6-0 run but Kewaunee chipped away at the lead and tied the game up late to make it 15-15 at the end of the first quarter.

With a little more than five minutes left in the first half, Kewaunee took its first and only lead of the game at 23-22.

Two Rivers responded, though, with an 11-0 run to take a 40-30 lead into halftime.

Two Rivers, which made six 3-pointers in the game and shot 9-of-11 from the free-throw line, led 60-40 at the end of the third quarter.

The Raiders committed seven fouls in the game.

Brett Linzmeier led Two Rivers with 21 points, three 3-pointers and five assists while teammate Ethan Willman had 18 points with three 3-pointers — eight points in the first quarter and eight in the third quarter.

Also for Two Rivers, Brett Kasper had 11 points to go along with a team-high eight rebounds and six assists.

The Raiders will now have four straight home games starting on Friday when they host Waupun in the annual Hall of Fame game.

Individual and team statistics for Kewaunee were not submitted to the Herald Times Reporter as of press deadline.
