Mike Thiele put the ball in back of the next off a thru ball from teammate Reed Waldhart to give the Roncalli boys soccer team its first conference win, defeating Algoma on Thursday 1-0.

Thiele scored in the 42nd minute to give Roncalli the victory as the Jets held off the Wolves in the late going.

“It was a hard fought game,” said Roncalli coach Donna Hodous via e-mail. “Even a little chippy at times, but the guys stayed tough, played well and brought home a well deserved conference win.”

Jets goal keeper Zach Berres made eight saves in net.

Notre Dame 1, Manitowoc Lincoln 0 (OT)

The Ships fell to the visiting Tritons who scored six minutes into overtime.

Arianit Abazi and Drake Nickels were both in goal for Lincoln (8-8, 3-5 Fox River Classic Conference), with Abazi making five saves in the first half Nickels six in the second half and overtime.

Lincoln visits Howards Grove on Saturday.
