Prep boys swimming: Lincoln relays, individuals fare well

Senior Aaron Hochkammer closed out his career with the Manitowoc Lincoln boys swimming team with a 15th-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at the WIAA State Division 1 Boys Swimming and Diving Meet on Saturday at the UW Natatorium in Madison.

Hochkammer’s time of 54.80 was behind Homestead winner Nicholas Petersen’s new State record time of 49.43.

Also individually for Lincoln, sophomore Riley Neuser was 22nd in the 200 freestyle (1:48.63) behind Middleton winner Jackson Uselman’s time of 1:41.87.

Like Hochkammer’s individual race, the Ships’ 400 relay team of Neuser, senior Kyle Heinzen, sophomore Dylan Neuser and Hochkammer finished behind a new record time.

Lincoln swam nearly six seconds faster than its sectional time and finished the event 13th (3:16.85) behind Madison Memorial’s 3:04.89, a new State record.

While the time might not have been enough for the Ships’ 400 relay team to place, it did shatter the old school record of 3:20:68 by almost four seconds. The previous record had been set last year by three of the same swimmers, the only new member being Heinzen.

The Ships’ 200 medley relay of Hochkammer, Heinzen, Dylan Neuser and sophomore John Cress finished 18th (1:42.20) behind Madison Memorial’s winning time of 1:35.17.
