Five top-10 finishers lifted the Two Rivers girls cross country team to the team title at the Raider Invite Thursday afternoon hosted by Kiel.

Kristy Terp (15:11) and Carly Terp (15:14) took second and third, respectively.

“We have our goals, we just take things one meet at a time, and we exceeded those goals today,” Two Rivers head girls coach Amy Gallagher said. “I told them that the single digits (finishes) really helped and five of them took that and went with it today.”

Valders, who finished third as a team in girls competition, was led by Beth Evans, who finished with a time of 16:53, placing her 15th individually.

Sam Bianchi provided a spark for the Two Rivers’ boys squad, which finished third as a team, by winning the individual title.

“I felt like I was pretty mentally ready for the race today and physically showed up today, Bianchi said. ” I knew I had a small chance to win, but didn’t know how good it was.”

Valders utilized a solid team effort to take top honors on the boys side.

Head coach Bill Dietrich was was pleased with the effort his relatively young squad put forth.

“Every race you’re thinking, ‘is this going to be the race where they back off, or is this going to be the race where they move ahead,'” Dietrich said. “A couple of them moved ahead and that was really a nice surprise.”

Roncalli and Two Rivers rounded out the top-three boys teams.

Tomerot Lambert (17:45) paced the Jets with a ninth place finish.

Nathan Grall added his fourth place finish to Bianchi’s win for Two Rivers.

Host Kiel took fourth in the girls standings, led by Jeana Fale (17:11), who finished in 22nd, while the boys, led by Trenton Nickel (19:02) finished 10th.
