Linebacker John Jung of Manitowoc Lutheran was named on Monday the Olympian-Packerland Small Conferences Co-Defensive Player of the Year along with Algoma’s Sam Koss.

Jung was one of an area-high five Lancers named first-team All-OP along with teammates Alex Thom (tight end, interior defensive lineman), Kyle Staudt (offensive lineman, defensive end), Will Kleinert (running back) and Ethan Hillmer (defensive back).

Other first teamers from the area were Reedsville’s Bryce Wenzel (offensive lineman), Joe Brandt (interior defensive lineman), Bryce Hassemer (linebacker) and Cody Schamburek (defensive back) and Mishicot’s Johnathon Peterson (running back) and Nicholas Ruzek (kicker).

The Panthers and Indians led the way with five players on the second team.

Reedsville was represented by Schamburek (split end), Nathan Dietrich (offensive lineman), Brock Gilsdorf (quarterback), Tyler Schuh (defensive end) and Alex Pischke (interior defensive lineman) and Mishicot by Jeff Stueck (split end), Jon Brendenmuehl (offensive lineman, interior defensive lineman), Peterson (linebacker), Weston Cracraft (defensive back) and Ruzek (punter).

Jung (offensive lineman) and Alex Matthias (linebacker) also made second team for Lutheran.

Reedsville’s Ryan Schwahn made honorable mention at both running and defensive back, joined by teammates Pischke (offensive lineman), Wenzel (defensive end) and Gilsdorf (defensive back). The Lancers had a pair of dual HMs in Hillmer (quarterback, punter) and Tyler Blattler (defensive back, running back) while Matthias was an HM offensive lineman.

Rounding out HMs was Mishicot’s Colten Haack at tight and defensive end.
