Lomira 40, Horicon 19
Although Horicon gained more yards than the Lions, Lomira still dominated as it took its season opener with a 40-19 win.
The Lions took advantage of five Horicon turnovers and turned them into points, outscoring it 25-6 in the second half.
Lomira’s Ethan Hackbarth ran in a score from a yard out to give it a 6-0 lead, but then Horicon answered with passing touchdowns of 35 and 48 yards to take a 13-6 lead. Hackbarth then connected with Bryce Bannach for a 75-yard strike and then a Jordan Michael 21-yard field goal gave the Lions a 16-13 lead at the half.
They kept that momentum going as Hackbarth threw a 35-yard TD pass to Mitch Priest, and after a touchdown from Horicon, Casper had scores from 37 and 6-yards out and Christian Borges picked off a pass and ran it back 62 yards for a TD to blow the game open.
Casper led the way with 120 yards rushing and two touchdowns, while Terrell Morgan added 78 yards of his own. The Lions rushed for 218 yards as a team.
Hackbarth finished the game 9-for-16 with 158 yards and two touchdowns.
