It was another day at the office for St. Mary’s Springs senior running back Ike Floyd, who ran for 158 yards and four touchdowns as the Ledgers romped to their 29th straight victory, 47-12 over Wautoma.
The Hornets actually got out to a 6-0 lead on a 50-yard TD pass to start the game, before Floyd scored the first of his TDs — a 17-yarder less than three minutes later and it was all Springs from there.
Sam Springer scored from 10 yards out for his first varsity touchdown and Brennan Ottery hauled in a 30-yard scoring reception from Zach McGlaughlin to give the Ledgers control in the first quarter, and then Floyd scored on runs of 38, 16 and 10 yards in the second to blow the game open.
Springs’ Anthony Grebe also returned an interception for a score in the third quarter.
The game was called with 3:08 left in the fourth quarter after two Wautoma players collided on a kickoff and an ambulance had to be brought onto the field.
