Prep football: Kiel run over by New Holstein

The Kiel football team was taken down in their Eastern Wisconsin Conference opener on Friday by host New Holstein 48-24 as the Huskies racked up a whopping 553 yards rushing.

Quinn Compton rushed for two short running touchdowns in the first quarter, and later exploded for a 62-yard score in the third. He finished with 23 carries for 233 yards.

Kiel found success in the air, completing 13-of-33 passes for 250 yards and four touchdowns. But it wasn’t enough to save the Raiders.

The Raiders actually struck first, with Kiel quarterback hitting receiver Adam Hecker for a 41-yard touchdown before New Holstein ran off 41-unanswered points.

Meunier then connected on two straight touchdowns of 18 and 27 yards to help re-ignite the Raiders offense in the third quarter.

Kiel’s Bryce Gannigan caught a 44-yard strike from Nicholas Walsh to complete the scoring for the visitors.
