A pair of first half touchdowns were enough to lift Manitowoc Lutheran over host Mishicot by a count of 14-12 in an Olympian Packerland-Small game Friday night.
Ethan Hillmer connected with Alex Thom on a 37-yard touchdown strike to put the Lancers up 7-0 in the first quarter.
The Indians answered with a pair of field goals from Nicholas Ruzek from distances of 27 and 25 yards, respectively, to pull within one at the end of the first.
Hillmer threw his second touchdown pass of the night in the second quarter, a 12-yard toss to Tyler Blattler, which made it 14-6 Lutheran heading into the break.
In the third quarter, Mishicot’s Quenten Haack found an open Jeffrey Stueck who rumbled into the endzone for a 95-yard touchdown.
The ensuing 2-point conversion, which would have tied the game, fell short.
Jonathan Peterson rushed 19 times for a team-high 58 yards for the Indians (1-4, 1-2 OP-small).
Thom finished with two catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.
The win is the third straight for the Lancers (3-2, 2-0 OP-small).
