Prep football: Pacelli falls in Raczek's final game

STEVENS POINT

Moments after senior quarterback Isaac Elliott set a school-record with 392 yards passing, Pacelli football coach Steve Raczek announced his resignation Friday night.

Unfortunately, both Raczek and Elliott would just as soon forget the final outcome — a 34-26 Central Wisconsin Conference-8 loss at the hands of Weyauwega-Fremont at Community Stadium in the regular-season finale.

Pacelli senior wideout Jacob Feltz finished with 15 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown. Chris Shibilski caught six passes for 121 yards and a score.

Pacelli finishes 2-7 overall and 1-6 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-8 on the heels of a six-game losing streak.

“I’ve been weighing it out for a while, and for reasons I don’t want to get into, this is going to be my last season,” Raczek said.

Weyauwega-Fremont was unstoppable on the ground, rolling up 434 yards and five touchdowns, including the game-winning score on a 9-yard jaunt with 10:02 left in the fourth quarter.

“We’ve been struggling against that all year. We don’t have the horses,” Raczek said. “We’ve got to get stronger in the weight room to be competitive.”
