Prep football: Roncalli moves into top-10

By

A 2-0 start has Roncalli ranked No.10 in the medium schools division in the latest Associated Press state high school football poll, released Monday.

The Jets, who were receiving votes in last week’s poll, picked up their second shutout of the season last Friday when they blanked New Holstein 35-0.

Roncalli is one of three teams in the top-10 yet to surrender a point in 2013. No.2 Waukesha Catholic Memorial and No.4 Seymour are the others.

The Jets will play host to Brillion, a team receiving votes in the small schools division, Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

Two Rivers (2-0) is receiving votes in the medium schools division for the second consecutive week.

The Raiders downed West Bend West last week and will square off with Plymouth in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference opener Friday.

The Panthers, the only conference team to beat Two Rivers in 2012, were receiving votes in the Week 1 poll, but dropped out this week despite picking up their first win of the season when they beat Grafton 17-14 last week.
