NEW CASTLE – Reggie Carroll picked up 234 yards on 23 carries and notched three touchdowns in William Penn’s 28-7 Blue Hen Flight A win over Appoquinimink.
Carroll scored on runs of 48, 11 and 53 yards. The Colonials led 28-0 heading into the fourth quarter. William Penn quarterback Daniel Johnson was 5 for 7 for 83 yards and threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Deshawn Smith, who made three catches for 42 yards. Ronald Tuck scored the Jaguars’ lone touchdown on a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter. Appoquinimink fell to 0-4, 0-3.
Brandywine 31, McKean 8BRANDYWINE HUNDRED – Stefon Johnson scored three touchdowns as Brandywine downed McKean in Blue Hen Flight B action on Saturday morning.
Johnson scored on runs of 2, 3 and 3 yards as the Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0) scored all their points in the first half. Tyrezz Walker also scored a touchdown for Brandywine on a 20-yard run.
McKean is now 2-2, 1-2.
Tower Hill 35, Tatnall 0WILMINGTON – Quarterback Matt Smith threw for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Tower Hill over Tatnall in an Independent Conference game on Saturday afternoon.
Smith rushed for 94 yards and went 5 for 11 for 207 yards through the air. After the Hillers (4-0, 1-0) took an a 7-0 lead on Smith’s 7-yard run in the second quarter, they took command of the game with two touchdowns in the final minute of the half.
Tatnall dropped to 1-3, 0-1.
Archmere 42, Moyer 0CLAYMONT – Archmere scored 30 points in the first quarter and cruised to a victory over Moyer in nonconference action on Saturday afternoon.
Jack Malloy and Connor Speidel scored touchdowns apiece for the Auks (2-2). Malloy scored on a 28-yard run and caught a 45-yard scoring pass from Brian Rogers. Speidel scored on runs of 49 and 1 yard. Colin Duffy scored on a 9-yard run and Kevin Reardon caught a a 6-yard touchdown pass from Robert Baxter.
Moyer fell to 0-4.
Maret School 23, St. Andrew’s 22MIDDLETOWN – Maret School (D.C.) rallied from a 22-10 deficit in the third quarter and edged St. Andrew’s in a nonconference game on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Bellissimo threw three touchdown passes to stake St. Andrew’s (1-2) to its lead, hitting Garrison Hines with a 7-yard scoring strike and firing 15- and 49-yard scoring tosses to Tristan Thomas. The Saints fell to 1-2.
George School 22, Conrad 21NEWTOWN, Pa. – The George School scored the game’s only second-half points on a fourth-quarter touchdown pass as it upended Conrad on Saturday afternoon.
Conrad (1-3) scored all its points in the second quarter as it took a 21-14 halftime lead.
Howard 26, Mount Pleasant 20WILMINGTON – Chaz Sydnor scored two touchdowns as unbeaten Howard topped Mount Pleasant.
Sydnor returned the second-half kick-off 90 yards for a score and later caught a 6-yard pass touchdown pass from Earnest Austin to put the Wildcats (4-0, 3-0) up by 26-14 in the third quarter.
Concord 12, Charter 7WILMINGTON – Brycen Alleyne rushed for two second-half touchdowns as Concord posted its first win of the season by downing Charter of Wilmington in a Blue Hen Flight A contest.
