The Section 8-5A football seeds went as expected when they were announced Thursday, with St. Cloud Apollo getting the No. 1 position.
The Eagles (6-2) and No. 2 St. Cloud Tech (5-3) have first-round byes in 8-5A, which is a six-team section.
Apollo plays the winner of No. 4 Moorhead (5-3) and No. 5 Alexandria (2-6) at either 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Michie Field.
Tech gets either No. 6 Sauk Rapids (0-8) or No. 3 Sartell (5-3) at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Clemens Stadium in Collegeville.
Sauk Rapids plays at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Sartell.
Another St. Cloud metro home game occurs at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Cloud State’s Husky Stadium in Section 5-3A.
No. 6 Milaca (2-6) plays No. 3 St. Cloud Cathedral (5-3).
Foley (6-2) got the top seed in the seven-team section and has a bye. The Falcons player the winner of No. 5 Pine City (3-5) and No. 4 Pierz (5-3).
In Section 8-4A, No. 6 Rocori (2-6) plays at No. 3 Little Falls (4-4) and No. 5 Albany (3-5) is at No. 4 Fergus Falls (4-5). Those teams play at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The Rocori/Little Falls winner plays Saturday at No. 2 Thief River Falls (6-2). The Albany-Fergus Falls winner plays Saturday at No. 1 Detroit Lakes (7-1).
Pairings in Section 6-2A, where Holdingford is the No. 1 seed, and 6A, where Kimball likely has a road playoff game, have yet to be determined. Teams in those sections are playing Thursday.
Section finals occur either Friday, Nov. 1, or Saturday, Nov. 2.
The state playoffs begin Nov. 7-9 with quarterfinal games. The state semifinals are Nov. 14-16 at the Metrodome with the Prep Bowl set for Nov. 22-23.
