The Valders football team mounted a furious second-half comeback against host Southern Door on Friday, scoring 20 point in the second half but it wasn’t enough as the Vikings fell 26-20.

Paxton Korslin led Valders with 262 yards of offense, completing 8-of-17 for 156 yard passing and two touchdowns while running 14 times for 106.

Zach Blatz got the Vikings’ comeback started, scoring on a two-yard run. Southern Door answered with 10 quick points before Korslin connected on a 73-yard touchdown pass to Braden Persinger and then a nine-yard dart to Forrest Fenlon. Persinger hauled in two passes for 99 yards to lead Valders.

Both sides were pretty even offensively, with Valders outgaining Southern Door 360-330 but the Vikings were undone by three interceptions.

Valders hosts Roncalli next Friday.
