* Skinny: The West Florida Jaguars and Gulf Breeze Dolphins will resume their rivalry tonight when the Dolphins travel to Marlon L. Bullock Stadium to take on the Jaguars in a District 1-5A game.

The Jaguars have bested the Dolphins for the District 1-5A title in each of the last two seasons — needing a shootout win over Gulf Breeze in 2011 to win the league championship.

West Florida has yet to be tested this year, outscoring its first six opponents by an average of 37.6 points. The Jaguars’ offense is averaging 50.5 points per game this season.

Tateat Crestview

* Kickoff: 7 p.m.

* Where: Bulldogs Stadium.

* Skinny: A trip to the postseason is on the line for the Tate Aggies tonight as they travel to Crestview to take on the Bulldogs in a District 1-7A showdown.

Tate opened the 1-7A campaign a couple of weeks ago with a 28-6 loss to the Niceville Eagles, so they’re in a position now where they must beat Crestview to get into postseason play.

Crestview still has to play Niceville in a couple of weeks to round out District 1-7A play.

Jay at Baker

* Kickoff: 7 p.m.

* Where: Baker High.

* Records: Jay 3-3, 0-1; Baker 6-0, 1-0.

* Skinny: The Jay Royals will try to halt a three-game losing streak today when they travel to Baker to take on their rival Gators in District 1-1A play.

The Royals have dropped three straight after opening the season with wins in each of their first three games. The Royals expect to have their work cut out for them tonight against the unbeaten Gators.

The Gators are averaging 44 points per game and are coming off a 42-0 win over North Bay Haven.

Freeportat Northview

* Kickoff: 7 p.m.

* Where: Chiefs Stadium.

* Skinny: The Northview Chiefs will try to set up a showdown with Baker for the District 1-1A title tonight when they play host to Freeport.

The Chiefs enjoyed the week off last week after blasting Jay in the 1-1A opener two weeks ago. The Chiefs are tied with Baker atop the 1-1A standings and will face the Gators later this season. Northview is hoping a win against Freeport tonight turns that game into a district championship showdown.

Pine Forest at Washington

* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Where: Sherman Robinson Stadium.

* Records: Pine Forest 0-7, 0-2; Washington 3-3, 1-1.

* Skinny: A winless Pine Forest team will go in search of victory while the Washington Wildcats will look to remain in the thick of the District 1-6A hunt tonight when the two teams square off at Washington.

Pine Forest dropped to 0-7 last week with a loss to Crestview — the Eagles’ third loss of the season by one score or less.

Washington fell to Tate in a non-district game, but a win tonight will keep the Wildcats in the district race. Washington is 1-1, and with Escambia and PHS still left on the schedule, the team could climb back into the playoff picture with a win tonight.

Arnold at Catholic

* Skinny: It will be homecoming tonight at Gorecki-LeBeau Stadium as the Catholic Crusaders play host to the Arnold Marlins in a District 1-5A affair.

Catholic is coming off a non-district win against Milton and is looking to keep pace with co-leader West Florida in the 1-5A standings. After Arnold tonight, the Crusaders will close out the season against rivals Gulf Breeze and West Florida.

Pace at PHS

* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Where: Jim Scoggins Stadium.

* Radio: 1450-AM & 101.1-FM.

* Records: Pace 3-4, 2-0; PHS 1-5, 1-1.

* Last Week: Pace beat Fort Walton Beach 31-17; PHS did not play.

PACE — RB Quaide Weimerskirch (229-1397, 16 TDs); FB Jon Jon Martin (87-501, 2 TDs); QB Daniel Smyers (39-81-4, 478 yards, 3 TDs); WR Jacob Sherrard (15-205, 1 TD); LB Taz Anderson (44 tackles); PHS — RB Kevon Abrams (73-555, 2 TDs); QB Roy Colum III (42-105-5, 599 yards, 2 TDs passing; 77-406, 2 TDs rushing); LB Xavier White (70 tackles); LB Rodney Grice (60 tackles).

* Skinny: The Pace Patriots will try to remain tied atop the District 1-6A standings tonight when they travel into town to take on the Pensacola Tigers.

Pace is 2-0 in 1-6A and tied with the Escambia Gators for the top spot. The two teams are scheduled to meet next Friday. But first, the Patriots have to get through a PHS team that is better than its 1-5 record indicates.

The Tigers also are still in contention for the league title. If PHS can beat Pace this week and Pace turns around and beats an unbeaten Escambia next week, the three teams could potentially finished tied for first.

Choctawhatchee at Navarre

* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Where: Bennett C. Russell Stadium.

* Records: Choctaw 5-2, 0-0; Navarre 4-3, 1-0.

* Last Week: Choctawhatchee beat East Gadsden 60-0; Navarre lost to Niceville 26-0.

* Players to watch: NAV — QB Matthew Webb (91-173-6, 949 yards, 6 TDs); WR Gatlin Casey (17-265, 4 TDs); WR Blake Malter (27-259); DB Will Robinson-Pettus (63 tackles); DE Christian Gill (64 tackles, 5 sacks); CHOC — RB Chase Whitehead; QB Garrison Floyd; RB John Hicks.

* Skinny: The scenario is pretty simple for the Navarre Raiders tonight when they play host to Choctawhatchee in District 2-6A play.

If the Raiders beat Choctaw, Navarre wins the District 2-6A title with a perfect 2-0 mark in league play. If the Raiders lose, then they have to wait on the Choctaw-Fort Walton Beach game to see if they finish as runner-up or if they will face off with those two in a three-team shootout to determine the top two spots.

Prior to the game, Navarre High will pay tribute to former Raiders player Ian Lockwood sa they will retire his No. 10 jersey.

Escambia at Milton

* Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.

* Skinny: The Escambia Gators will look to keep their perfect season going tonight when they travel to take on the winless Milton Panthers in a matchup of opposites.

Escambia enters tonight’s game with a 6-0 record overall and 2-0 mark in District 1-6A play. Milton, on the other hand, enters the game with an 0-7 overall mark and an 0-2 record in district.

The Gators are led by the state’s leading rusher — Danikeei Hollowell, who has run for 1,541 yards through the first six games of the season. He could be joined in the 1,000-yard club on Friday by quarterback Gerold Bright, who needs only 36 yards to reach that mark.
