Best in the Red: She rolled a 269 last week against Haslett that’s the high game for a CAAC Red girls bowler so far this season and followed it with a 201 for a 470 series. Delo, who is averaging 183, also rolled a 238 game against Sexton and is 9-1 in match play in 2012-13. She finished third of the 10 who qualified from individual regionals for the Division 2 state finals a year ago, and ended up in 51st place at the state tournament. She also helped Ionia win its Division 2 regional, qualify for state finals as a team for the first time, and then finish 10th at the state tournament. She earned all-academic honors in bowling a year ago as well as in golf last fall and holds a 3.4 grade point average.
From coach Kendall Krick: “I’ve seen her throw good games in practice, so I know she’s capable of it (269) but it was nice to see it in match play. She has been one of our every-day starters the last couple of years, and our lead-off player who sets the tome for the whole team with her performance. She’s an absolute great kid, a solid student, and a good person in life. A lot of the younger players look up to her and try to follow her example.”
