Prep girls basketball: Roncalli outscored 20-9 in fourth quarter of home loss

Leading 25-24 entering the fourth quarter, the Roncalli girls basketball team was outscored 20-9 by visiting Wrightstown to fall 44-34 on Tuesday night.

The loss to Wrightstown (10-2, 8-1 Olympian Conference), the OC’s No. 1 team, knocks Roncalli (8-4, 6-4 OC) to three games back of the conference’s top spot.

Roncalli made two 3-pointers while holding Wrightstown to none but the Jets were just 4-of-9 from the free-throw line while the Tigers were 12-of-17 on free throws.

Rachel Moczynski was the only Roncalli player to reach double figures as she has 12 points with one 3-pointer.

Tied at 14-14 at the end of the first quarter, host Two Rivers was outscored in the final three quarters for the loss.

The Raiders were led by Allie Basken who had nine points while Two Rivers’ only 3-pointer was made by Kati Knitter, her only basket of the night.

Individual statistics for Algoma were not submitted to the Herald Times Reporter as of press deadline.

The visiting Indians upset the Lancers behind a 17-11 first quarter, while Lutheran left eight points at the line going 12-for-20 in the narrow loss.

Lutheran’s MacKayla Menges led all scorers with 14 while Morgan Melichar scored a team-high 10 for Mishicot.

The Vikings led 19-12 at halftime, and 28-25 entering the fourth but were outscored by 11 in the final frame in the home loss.

Danelle Buck led Valders with 13 points while teammate Conner Grall added eight.
