The Manitowoc Lincoln girls basketball team held host Roncalli for more than six minutes in the second quarter and the Jets couldn’t recover in a 54-36 non-conference loss on Monday night.
Lincoln raced out to an 8-4 lead midway through the first quarter but Roncalli responded by forcing seven turnovers and finishing the frame on a 7-0 run to lead 11-8 entering the second quarter.
The Jets scored early in the second quarter but from there it was all Lincoln. The Ships held Roncalli scoreless for a six-minute stretch and built a 14-point lead as an Alyssa Grotegut field goal made it 27-13 with three minutes left in the half.
With one minute left in the second quarter, Roncalli’s Rachel Moczynski made one-of-two free throws to break Lincoln’s run and on the next Jets possession she made a 3-pointer and at halftime the Jets trailed 28-17.
In the third quarter, a 3-pointer by Lincoln’s Michaela Jagemann it 35-19 and moments later the Ships led 37-19. At the end of the frame Lincoln led 41-26.
In the fourth quarter, Moczynski had eight points but a layup from Lincoln’s Shawny Gabriel with three minutes left gave the Ships their largest lead of the night at 50-30.
Five Jets scored in the game as Moczynski had a team-high 20 points as the only one to reach double figures.
For Lincoln, seven players scored as Gabriel had a team-high 20 points.
Jagemann and teammate Alyssa Fischer had 10 points each as Jagemann made all three of the Ships’ 3-pointers. Roncalli also had three 3-pointers in the game.

Eleven Lutheran players scored in the home win as the Lancers outscored Cedar Grove-Belgium 22-2 in the second quarter.
MacKayla Menges led Lutheran with 13 points and both of the Lancers’ 3-pointers.
Cedar Grove-Belgium had four 3-pointers in the game but shot 3-of-10 from the free-throw line while Lutheran was 13-of-25.
