Prep girls basketball roundup: Lutheran rallies past Valders

After trailing by 10 points late in the second quarter, the Manitowoc Lutheran girls basketball team rallied in the second half en route to a 38-33 home win over Valders on Saturday night.

Lutheran opened the game with a 4-0 lead but a 6-0 run by Valders late in the first quarter gave the Vikings a 14-9 lead at the end of the frame.

Valders then started the second quarter on a 6-0 run and led by as many as 10 points before the Lancers fired back and cut its deficit to 24-21 at halftime.

After shooting 6-of-25 from the field in the first half, Lutheran came out in the third quarter and took its first lead since the early first quarter as Kaitlin Radue made a 3-pointer to give the Lancers a 27-24 lead.

Entering the fourth quarter up 30-28, Lutheran held off several Valders comeback attempts and the pair exchanged baskets for most of the final frame.

No other information was provided to the Herald Times Reporter as of press deadline.

Trailing 26-25 at halftime, visiting Roncalli outscored St. Mary Central 18-8 in the third quarter and 15-9 in the fourth quarter for the win.

Rachel Moczynski had a game-high 14 points for the Jets while teammate Sophie Pitz added 13 points, including all three of Roncalli’s 3-pointers.

Visiting Two Rivers raced out to a 14-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in the win.

Alexi Walesh led the Raiders with a game-high 13 points while teammate Mackenzie Walesh added 10 points.

Two Rivers made one 3-pointer in the game but were 10-of-15 from the free-throw line while St. Marys Springs made three 3-pointers but was 6-of-13 from the free-throw line.

Host Reedsville jumped out to an 18-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back in the win.

The Panthers were led by Riley Grimm who had a game-high 14 points. No other Reedsville player reached double digits in scoring, but 10 Panthers scored in the game

For Mishicot, Brooke Luckow had 11 points and three 3-pointers while five Indians scored in the game.

Reedsville had one 3-pointer in the game but shot 15-of-30 from the free-throw line while Mishicot made four 3-pointers but was just 7-of-18 from the free-throw line.
