Prep girls basketball: Two Rivers tops Manitowoc Lutheran

The Two Rivers girls basketball team lead 14-2 after the first quarter and never looked back in a 54-42 home non-conference win over Manitowoc Lutheran on Tuesday night.

The Lancers cut their deficit to 23-19 at halftime but the Raiders outscored them 31-23 in the second half.

Two Rivers was led by Mackenzie Walesh who had 23 points while teammate Alexi Walesh had 12 points. Also for the Raiders, Marissa Broehm had 10 points and one of their two 3-pointers.

Arianna Neumeyer had 17 points to lead Lutheran as she was the only player to reach double figures. She had three of the Lancers’ five 3-pointers.

The Raiders shot 20-of-25 from the free-throw line while Lutheran was 5-of-14.

Howards Grove 49, Valders 31

Howard grove jumped out to a 13-5 lead and Valders couldn’t recover in the home loss.

The Vikings were led by Danelle Buck who had nine points and Amanda Handle who added eight points.

Valders, which made no 3-pointers in the game, shot 15-of-25 from the free-throw line while Howards Grove was 20-of-26 and made five 3-pointers.

Mishicot fell behind 14-7 after the first quarter and never recovered in the road loss.

Morgan Melichar led the Indians with a game-high 23 points while teammate Gina Finnel added nine. Also for Mishicot, Brooke Luckow had eight points.

Mishicot made seven 3-pointers to Brillion’s two and the Indians shot 9-of-14 from the free-throw line while Brillion was 11-of-18.
