On Sunday the WIAA released its official brackets for this year’s Girls State Basketball Tournament, with Reedsville and Roncalli each receiving the highest seed out of the eight Manitowoc Country programs.

Reedsville (18-2, 14-2 Olympian Conference) was awarded the No. 3 seed in Division 4, meaning it will face the winner of the No. 11 Mishicot (4-17, 4-13 OC) at No. 6 St. Mary Central (12-9, 10-7 OC) matchup on March 1.

The Panthers have swept all four games between the two potential opponents, defeating Mishicot on the road 39-38 in mid December before winning at home against the Indians 46-27 in late January. They also took out the Zephyrs 43-32 in late December at home and 49-42 on the road at the start of February.

Mishicot lost both meetings with St. Mary Central this season, falling 47-36 in mid December on the road and at home 48-33 at the end of January as the two sides square off for the final time this season on Feb. 26.

The Jets, meanwhile, earned a bye in Division 3 and will take on the winner of the No. 11 Valders (3-17, 3-13 OC) at No. 6 Brillion (11-10, 7-10 OC) game also on March 1. Roncalli won both meetings with the Vikings this season, defeating them 53-34 at home in mid December on in Valders 50-38 at the and of January. The Jets did the same to the Lions, beating them 48-39 at home at the end of December and 50-40 on the road to begin February.

Valders, which will play Brillion for the third time on Feb. 26, losing both previous matchups this season, 41-38 in late November on the road and 38-30 at home in mid January.

Also earning a bye in Division 3 is Two Rivers, (13-8, 9-4 Eastern Wisconsin Conference) facing the winner of the No. 12 New Holstein (1-18, 0-13 EWC) at No. 5 Denmark (11-9, 9-6 Bay Conference) pairing on March 1. The Raiders have taken both meetings with the Huskies, beating them on the road in early December 62-39 and in Two Rivers 50-33 in late January. The Raiders have not faced Denmark this season.

Rounding out Division 3, No. 5 Kiel (13-8, 7-6 EWC) hosts No. 12 Ripon (2-19, 1-14 Eastern Valley Conference). The Raiders have not played Ripon this season.

Manitowoc Lutheran (12-8, 10-6 OC) finishes up Division 4, as the Lancers host No. 10 Shiocton (6-14, 3-10 Central Wisconsin Eight Conference). Lutheran will face Shiocton for the first time this season on Feb. 26.

Manitowoc Lincoln (15-6, 9-6 Fox River Classic Conference), the areas lone Division 1 representative, is very familiar with its opponent having just defeated the Trojans at home on Thursday 45-41. The No. 5 seeded Ships will travel to square off with FRCC rival and No. 4 seed Green Bay Southwest (13-7, 9-5 FRCC) on March 1.

All games are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m.
