Coach: Amy Gallagher, 13th year

Last year: First, Eastern Wisconsin Conference

Returning letter-winners: Carly Terp, sr.; Kristy Terp, jr.; Alana Fabian, so.; Kayla Jansky, so.; Kylie Jansky, so.; Allie Wachowski, so.

Outlook: Led by 2012 state qualifier Carly Terp, the reigning conference champs are one of the deepest teams in the area. Gallagher is pleased with her team’s work ethic and attitude, two components she knows will be essential if the Raiders are to duplicate the success of 2012.

Manitowoc Lincoln

Coach: Michael Bubolz, first year

Last year: Ninth, Fox River Classic Conference

Returning letter-winners: Miranda Gove, jr.; Karly Rosinsky, sr.; Caitlyn Cayemberg, jr.; Stephanie Kliment, sr.; Holly Nichols, so.

Outlook: The Ships lost a good number of experienced runners to graduation. They will be relying upon their nucleus of upperclassmen to provide leadership. Bubolz has seen his team make strides each day and he hopes to see continued improvement as the year progresses.

Roncalli

Coach: Tim Schroeder, fifth year

Last year: Fifth, Olympian Conference

Returning letter-winners: Andrea Lohr, sr.; Andrea Jagemann, sr.; Allie Zahn, jr.; Hailey Hofmann, jr.; Meghan Jacoby, jr.; Lauren Clark, so.; Alli Winans, so.

Outlook: Roncalli is a team searching for its identity at this point in the season, but Schroeder is confident they’ll find it. A solid crop of returning letter winners gives him reason to be excited about this year’s squad.

Kiel

Coach: Tony Grybush, 24th year

Last year: Fourth, EWC

Returning letter-winners: Jena Williams, sr.; Cheyenne Woepse, sr.; Gretta Binversie, jr.; Taylor Binversie, jr.; Jeana Fale, jr.; Michelle Hennings, jr.

Outlook: The Raiders are led by Williams, who was a state qualifier last year. Grybush anticipates the battle for the conference crown will be a fierce one with his squad needing to compete with the likes of Two Rivers and Plymouth.

Manitowoc Lutheran

Coach: Abbey Bubolz, second year

Last year: Fifth, OC

Returning letter-winners: Rachel Winter, sr.; Ryley Schetter, sr.; Breanna Schneider, sr.; Taylor Roekle, jr.; Annalisa Schuette, jr.; Sheridan Grosshuesch, so.; Erika Schwalbe, so.

Outlook: Bubolz is happy with the work her team put in during the offseason. A glance at the roster provides more reason for optimism, the Lancers return all but one of their starters from a team that qualified for sectionals a year ago, including Winter, a two-time state qualifier.

Valders

Coach: Bill Dietrich, fourth year

Last year: Second, OC

Returning letter-winners: Angela Brandl, sr.; Regina Bushman, sr.; Ashley Riederer, sr.; Beth Evans, jr.; Sydney Gutman, jr,; Morgan Kelly, jr.; Emma Pattee, jr.; Trish Peterson, jr.; Jacqui Wenzel, jr.; Abby DeMeyer, so.; Lauren Stenzel, so.

Outlook: With a solid group of experienced runners returning to the fold, the Vikings are optimistic they can improve upon last year’s second place finish. Evans leads a pack of talented athletes in a quest for the school’s first girls conference title since 2001.

Mishicot

Coach: Justin Gerlach, 11th season

Last year: N/A

Returning letter-winners: Melissa LeCaptain, sr.; Kelsey Murzyn, sr.; Christina DeVries, sr.

Outlook: Though he does not have enough runners to field a complete team, Gerlach has high hopes for his his four runners. He looks to see his club improve on a consistent basis, moving forward.

Reedsville

Coach: Shawn Eckstein, second year

Last year: Ninth, OC

Returning letter-winners: Edith Hughes, sr.; Dana Krepline, sr.; Chloe Eckstein, jr.

Outlook: The Panthers return a trio of letter-winners from 2012 and will look to freshmen Faith Lubner and Marie Wedepohl to contribute immediately. Eckstein believes that his team’s biggest assets are its work ethic and its drive.
