HOLT 63, SEXTON 12

Holt started the game on a 21-0 run and led 24-1 after one quarter in a 63-12 win over Sexton in CAAC Blue play on Friday night.

After taking a 41-7 lead into halftime, Holt enjoyed a 22-5 advantage and a running clock in the second half while resting most of their starters.

“We’ve got a tough week next week. We’ve got Portland on Tuesday and we just didn’t want to come out here and not play our style of basketball, so we wanted to defend and get in the passing lanes and we did a good job of that and got some layups out of it,” Holt coach Doug Harkema said.

Freshman Kamrin Reed had 15 points to lead Holt (8-1, 3-1). Sophomore Tara Lierman had 11 points for the Rams while senior Sherye Bradley added 10 points for Holt.

Andrea Koenigsknecht had five points to lead Sexton (0-8, 0-4).
