OKEMOS — Everett held on in the final seconds to upset Okemos 37-36 in CAAC Blue girls basketball on Friday.

Starr Allen scored 12 points to lead the Vikings (5-9, 3-5). Elle Nichols had 11 points and Vanessa Nigg scored nine for Okemos (7-7, 5-3).

Rienstra scored 14 of her points in the first half before picking up her third foul with 3:37 left in the second quarter. Waverly interim coach T.J.Hawkins said that Rienstra’s shooting adds a new dimension to his team.

“That’s huge for us,” Hawkins said. “She’s been struggling a little bit in different games, but it’s good to see her have this kind of night to get herself going.”

Victoria Milton added 12 points for the Warriors (8-6, 7-2).

Emily Somerville led the Bulldogs (7-9, 4-5) with 11 points, in a game in which Mason hit just 10 of their 48 shots from the field and 3 of their 10 free-throw attempts.

“We’re starting to understand to be patient on offense, but our numbers speak for themselves,” Mason coach Scott Shattuck said.
