Prep girls soccer roundup: Kiel edged at Plymouth

By

The girls soccer teams of Kiel and unbeaten Plymouth were stuck in a scoreless stalemate for 68 minutes before the Panthers tallied the game’s only score to pull out a hard-earned 1-0 Eastern Wisconsin Conference victory at home on Thursday.

Plymouth’s Sarah Gamoke scored with about 12 minutes remaining from 30 yards out to get her team a win.

Plymouth improved to 4-0 on the season, and has yet to allow a goal. Kiel dropped to 1-2 overall.

Alyssa Summers made 14 saves in the goal for the Raiders.

“Kiel had quite a defensive effort and it worked for 68 minutes. We were able to get shots, but weren’t able to put them on goal,” said Plymouth coach Brad Feick. “We stayed composed, maintained possession, and stuck to our gameplan to possess and generate shots. And eventually it worked.”

LATE TUESDAY G.B. Southwest 4, Man. Lincoln 1

Lincoln trailed 3-0 at halftime and couldn’t recover in the home loss.

Courtney Griffith made nine saves for Lincoln while the Ships had two shots on goal.
