Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Valders girls soccer team allowed four second-half goals in a 5-0 home loss on Thursday to Sturgeon Bay.
Alena Braun made nine saves for Valders while teammate Alyssa Christianson had 11 saves.
“Sturgeon Bay is very good. Do to early season bad weather we are playing four matches a week now. This has two bad consequences — the starters are exhausted and we never have practice to keep developing the less experienced players,” Valders coach Brian Brandl said in an email. “Therefor we took this match as an opportunity to get the starters some rest and play the rest of the squad. They did a really nice job.”
