PRINCETON – Sauk Rapids trailed by a goal going into the second intermission, but Princeton scored 25 seconds into the third period Thursday.

The Tigers went on to eliminate the Storm, 4-1, from the Section 5A quarterfinals.

Sauk Rapids finishes the season 9-16-1.

Princeton faces St. Cloud Cathedral in the semifinals at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

Hermantown blanked Proctor 10-0 and Rogers edged Legacy Christian 3-1.

The Hawks will play the Royals in the other semifinal at 7 p.m. Saturday in Hermantown.

Mathew Meyer put the Storm on the board with an unassisted goal 10:21 into the game, but Dan Muench answered three minutes later for the Tigers.

Daniel Voce put Princeton up for good with a shorthanded goal late in the second period before Muench struck again early in the third.

William Mortenson finished with 37 saves for the Storm.

St. Cloud Cathedral 17, Mora 1

Austin Poganski finished with a school record 12 points as St. Cloud Cathedral routed Mora in Section 5A quarterfinal play at the Municipal Athletic Complex.

Poganski scored five goals, assisted on seven and was taken out of the game after he scored his final goal 36 seconds into the third period.

The Crusaders outshot the Mustangs 73-11 and scored 11 goals in the second period.

Josh Robak made 10 saves in goal for Cathedral. Mora goaltender Tanner Baxley played the whole game, stopping 56 of 73 shots.

Will Hammer scored three goals with three assists, Austin Swingle had a goal and four assists and Tommy Hall had two goals and two assists for the Crusaders.

Poganski, a verbal commit to play at North Dakota, has 30 goals and 29 assists in 24 games this season.

Poganski missed five games in late December and early January while playing for the Team USA Under-17 team.
