All-Star tennis

Cocoa Beach’s Nick Lofrumento and Melbourne’s Mattias Hartmann are playing for the Region 4 team in the Florida High School Tennis Coaches Assocation All-Star Tournament this weekend at Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach.

Four boys and four girls represent the region, which covers Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Osceola, Polk, Orange, Seminole and Volusia counties.

Astronaut

The Space Coast Striders Track Club will host the fourth annual Space Coast Invitational on Saturday at Astronaut High. The event will feature athletes from around the state competing in age groups from 4 to 18 years old in track and field events.

Admission is $3 for children and $5 for adults.

Brevard HEAT

The Brevard Heat will celebrate its 10th anniversary of offering a sports avenue for home-schooled athletes on May 7. The event will be at Calvary Chapel in Melbourne at 7 p.m.

Eau Gallie

Mackenzie Conley won the Academic and Athletic Excellence Award for the Florida Region of USA Volleyball this year. She had previously received a scholarship to Pasco Community College. She is also a captain for the Commodores softball team.

Florida Air

Hndre Pound has received a scholarship for football and track and field from FIT. He is the Class 1A, District 12 champion in the long jump after clearing 21 feet, 31/4 inches, and he won the 200 meters with a time of 22.22 seconds.

Rockledge

The Rockledge High Softball Boosters are hosting the fourth annual Lady Raider Alumni game on May 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the school’s softball field. Activities include a Home Run Derby and the game will pit odd vs. even graduation years. Softball alumni are asked to contact head coach Mike Inman at 636-3711, ext. 240 or inman.michael@brevardschools.org.

Viera

The Hawks are seeking a qualified and experienced boys varsity head soccer coach for the 2013-14 season. The qualified candidate must meet Brevard Public Schools qualifications as well as have experience at the high school or college level.
