Despite a big game from Jayla Scaife, Central dropped a tight 49-47 loss to Greenfield-Central after losing an eight-point halftime lead. Scaife scored 27, with half her team’s field goals and all but one of its free throws, and pulled down 19 rebounds.
Yorktown pulled away in the final quarter to take down Shenadoah 42-26. Kendra Saunders had 14 points for the Tigers, who shot 34 percent and hit 1-of-14 3-pointers. Yorktown (12-4) held the Raiders to seven or fewer points in three quarters.
Daleville lost 48-12 at Indiana Deaf. Winners for the Broncos, both by pin, were Cody Duke at 152 pounds and Connor Clark at 220.
Southside beat Blackford 98-45 picking up nine first-place finishes. Jasper Jameson won the 200-meter freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Jay County edged Central 891/2-861/2. Josh Lykins was a double individual winner for the Patriots, as was Andrew Dowdle for the Bearcats
Southside earned a 102-73 road win at Blackford. The Rebels’ Taylor Fabian set a new school record with a time of 2 minutes, 15 seconds in the 200 freestyle.
Central handed Jay County its first dual loss in 13 meets by winning 98-88. Emmy Rawson and Kaitlin Kerrigan were individual winners for the Bearcats. Katy Smeltzer, Sophie Bader and Anne Vormohr each won two events for the Patriots.
