Post-Crescent sports reporter Ricardo Arguello goes one-on-one with Neenah senior girls’ soccer player Emily Skaer:
Q: Neenah reached the WIAA state tournament last season. What do you remember most from that experience?
A: Just the excitement of making it to state with my team. The feeling is indescribable and it is a memory I will always cherish.
Q: Neenah is one of several top teams in the Fox Valley Association. Which of the top teams would you consider to be your biggest rival?
A: Appleton North and Kimberly will always be our biggest rivals. We are always all at the top of the conference and it is always a battle.
Q: If you weren’t playing soccer, would you be playing another spring sport? If so, why?
A: I think I would play lacrosse. I used to play with the boys when I was younger and I really liked it.
Q: You just won two VIP tickets to see any musical artist of your choice! Who would you go see and whom would you take with you?
A: I think I would go see Luke Bryan and I would do whatever I could to make sure I got four VIP tickets so I could bring Sydney Buss, Sarah Gregory and Meg Riebau.
Q: Word on the street is that you’re a big Chicago Bears fan. How many headaches do your friends give you about that?
A: It is never ending … but I don’t let it faze me! I will still rock my Chicago Bears jersey around the halls of NHS!
Q: It’s favorites time! What’s your favorite vacation destination?
A: Sanibel Island, Florida.
Q: Favorite TV show?
A: “Psych.”
Q: Favorite movie?
A: I am a pretty big Harry Potter fan. But “21 Jump Street” is a good one, too.
Q: Favorite food prepared by mom?
A: My dad makes some killer spaghetti. Sorry mom.
Q: Favorite aspect of Neenah High School?
A: Definitely would have to say Rocket Memorial Stadium. It is my favorite field to play on and I have made some unforgettable memories out there.
Q: Favorite Hollywood dream date?
A: I would love it if Luke Bryan took me out for a night on the town.
Q: Favorite place to relax at home?
A: There is nothing better than kicking back and watching some Netflix in my room!
Q: Favorite store at the Fox River Mall?
A: Scheels. They have anything and everything I could ever need.
Q: Favorite toy as a child?
A: My Tickle Me Elmo. He never left my side!
Q: Favorite newspaper sports reporter?
A: Well, the one and only Ricardo Arguello, of course.
Q: Congratulations! You just won $400 million in the PowerBall! What are the first three things you’re doing with the money?
A: First, I would pay my parents back for everything they have done for me and set some aside to donate. And then I think I would spend the rest traveling the world.
Q: What’s the next step for you? What school are you heading to, are you playing sports and any thoughts on a major?
A: I will be attending Edgewood College in Madison this fall. I plan on playing soccer and majoring in something in the health field.
