St. Augustine fell in the championship game to host Bishop Eustace 4-0 on Saturday.

The Hermits defeated Malvern Prep 15-9 in the semis to reach the final. Chris Oakley got the win in that contest, registering eight strikeouts. Barry Buchowski was 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run homer. Sean Carew was a homer short of the cycle, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple and three runs scored.

On Sunday, the Prep gave coach Mike Bylone his 100th career victory. Anthony Meduri threw five scoreless innings for his first career victory.

Aiden Kolansky homered and Eli Helsel earned the victory as the Crusaders improved to 7-2 on the season on Saturday.

Buena got a strong effort on the mound from Ian Bertucci as the Chiefs downed the Braves 4-2 at the Oakcrest tournament on Sunday. Bertucci allowed one hit in six innings and struck out seven. Robert Bunton was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored while Dom Lopez added two hits.

Sacred Heart lost to Pennsville, 6-1.

Calvary Acad. 3

The Crusaders scored nine runs in the opening inning and 12 in the second to rout their opponent in Game 1 of a doubleheader. Dilan Ott had a double and five RBIs, Aaron Fennimore had two doubles and Jordan Cottrell doubles and picked up the win. Luther S. Pierce IV also had a double.

In Game 2, Cumberland Christian won 28-3. Shane Varesio had three doubles and five RBIs while also earning the victory.

Colt Classic

Schalick’s Jack Peterson captured the first singles title at the Cumberland tournament on Saturday, defeating Seneca’s Cody Cassise 6-0, 6-3 in the finals. Those three lost games in the second set were the only ones he lost in the tourney.

Cumberland’s Chris Rothman won the second singles crown by defeating Seneca’s Cooper Morrison, 6-2, 6-2. Rothman beat Schalick’s Nick Nelson 6-4, 6-1 to make the final.


Vineland split its matches at the event, defeating Hammonton 4-1 while falling to Moorestown 5-0 on Saturday. Against the Blue Devils, the Fighting Clan swept singles, which included Rahi Patel’s 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Pete Lancetta at first singles. Lancetta was the Cape-Atlantic League runner-up last year.

St. Augustine went 0-2, losing to both Haddonfield and Hammonton 4-1. In the Haddonfield loss, Prep’s Brian Balchiunas picked up an impressive win at second singles, defeating Tommy Dodson 2-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (10-8).
