Sal Marandino, Billy Ward and Chaz Bramble earned three consecutive pins from 126 pounds through 138 as the Chiefs rolled past the Red Raiders. Jarrett Pierotti (152) and Nick Caporale (220) also decked their opponents in the triumph.
Hammonton 64, Vineland 60
The Fighting Clan dug out of a 12-point deficit after the first quarter, but were unable to complete the comeback against the Blue Devils (7-1).
Vineland (2-6) was down by three points with eight seconds left in the game, but a turnover on an in-bounds play ended the Clan’s hopes. Eddie Thomas led Vineland with 18 points while Jola Babalola added 14. Charlie Ware (11 points) and Kevin Ellis (10 points) also finished in double figures for the Fighting Clan.
Buena’s Emely Ramirez took first in the high jump, leaping 5 feet, 0 inches, as the Chiefs competed at Lehigh University over the Christmas break.
Andrea Olsen earned a silver medal in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.35 while Rayshawn Scott (high jump, 6-2), Casey Sturts (pole vault, 9-0) and Gina Testa (3,000 meters, 11:42.06) each placed third in their respective event.
Buena’s 4×200 relay of Ramirez, Sturts, Aly Dickson and Olsen took fourth in 1:51.7 and fifth in the 4×400 in 4:16.11.
On the boys’ side, the 4×400 relay of Scott, Nate Neiderhofer, Kaeshan Deal and Anthony Forrest placed fifth in 3:33.63.
