WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Chase Lamp and Josh Paltz have been terrorizing opposing defense in the early going this season. That trend continued on Thursday, as Lamp and Paltz combined for 42 points to lead the Assumption boys basketball team to a 67-48 Marawood Conference-South Division victory over Pittsville.
Lamp had the hot hand, finishing with 26 points, including 12 in the third quarter when Pittsville was making a run. Assumption starting the game with a 19-6 first quarter onslaught, but Pittsville whittled the lead to single digits before Lamp started sizzling in the second half.
“We got off to a really good start,” Royals coach Greg Weisenbeck said. “They had some kids out and we cranked up the pressure. We made some free throws and pulled away in the fourth quarter.”
Josh Paltz added 16 points for the Royals, while Brad Wesely shined in a losing effort with 22 points.

BLAIR – Lexi Brost had 22 points and Desirae Schuh added 13 as the Papermakers used a strong third quarter to pull away from the Wildcats.
“In the second half the girls applied a lot of pressure and opened up the lead for us,” Nekoosa coach Scott Linzmeier said.

ROSHOLT – Bre Richter outscored WVL by herself, scoring 22 points and added 11 rebounds as the Hornets cruised to a nonconference victory.
Nikayla Glodowski added 12 points for Rosholt, while Kristen Danner led the Wolves with eight.
