Prep roundup: Fort Collins tennis team opens season with 6-1 win over Mountain Range

Fort Collins opened its boys tennis season Tuesday with a 6-1 home victory over Mountain Range.

The Lambkins were led by C.J. Moddelmog in singles action, who swept Mountain Range’s Grady Egan, 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 3 position.

Also sweeping the competition for Fort Collins (1-0, 1-0 Front Range League) were Connor Shore and Mitch Carlson as the No. 3 doubles team and Jared and Nick Graham in the No. 4 doubles spot.

The only point for Mountain Range (0-1, 0-1) came at No. 1 singles where Matt Flanigan defeated Suraj Renganathan 7-5, 6-0.

Next up for Fort Collins is a home match Saturday against Windsor.

Softball

ERIE 13, WINDSOR 0–The Wizards opened their season with a road loss Tuesday.

Windsor was led by senior Chelsea Moote, who went 2 for 2 at the plate, but Erie pitcher Carrie Clarke prevented the Wizards from stringing hits together and earned the win.

Sarah Barger suffered the loss.

Windsor next plays at Berthoud on Friday at 4 p.m.
