IOLA – Three Pacelli golfers finished it the top four to pace the team to a WIAA Division 3 regional championship Tuesday at Glacier Wood Golf Course.

Pacelli shot a 345 to finish ahead of runner-up Iola-Scandinavia (370). Both teams advanced to next week’s sectional tournament.

Pacelli golfers included event medalist Josh Weinberger, a sophomore who shot an 81. Other Pacelli golfers include junior Charlie Beyer (85), junior Brett O’Sullivan (89), junior Ryan Glodowski (90) and senior Joe Jensen (102).

Iola-Scandinavia golfers include Zach Mortenson (89), Mike Blum (92), Nolan Wolberg (94), Andrew Bauer (95) and Kyle Honken (98).

ALMOND – Kayla Smith allowed just one hit after the first inning to lead the Blackhawks, who will host Assumption in a Division 4 regional final.

IOLA – The Thunderbirds Brianne Huettner walked the bases loaded to open the sixth inning, then proceeded to get a pair of strikeouts and a groundout to get out of the jam as Iola-Scandinavia held on in a wild Division 3 regional semifinal.

The Thunderbirds host Manawa on Thursday.

WESTFIELD – Pacelli junior Payton Hintz hit a three-run home run and Hannah Skibba drove in two with a single to account for all five runs scored in the first inning.

The home run for Hintz was her first as a varsity player.

No. 3-seed Pacelli plays Thursday at top-seeded Weyauwega-Fremont.

ROSHOLT – Carrissa Wright tossed a two-hitter and scored three runs, while Nikayla Glodowski added three hits, including a bases-loaded single off the fence to invoke the 10-run mercy rule as the Hornets opened regional play by routing the Tigers.

Rosholt will play Newman on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Wausau.

“Our pitching was good today. Carrissa threw strikes and got groundouts and we hit the ball hard, everyone in lineup was hitting line drives,” Hornets coach Aaron Dobbe said.

ANTIGO – Austin Shulfer struck out nine and scattered five hits and lead-off hitter Eric Zelhofer collected three hits to lead the Panthers to a blowout win over the Red Robins in a nonconference contest.

SPASH claimed the outright Wisconsin Valley Conference when Wausau West split a doubleheader with Marshfield.
