The Quincy High boys’ soccer team won its ninth consecutive game with a 5-0 win at Jackson Christian on Thursday night.

The Orioles improved to 11-2 overall and are tied with Hillsdale Academy atop the Indedpendent Soccer League at 5-1.

Quincy’s Jake Rider scored the game’s first two goals, both on passes from Evan Albright, as the Orioles led 2-0 at the half.

“We were controlling the flow of the game all night. We were aggressive offensively and defensively,” said Quincy coach Tim Hart.

Albright also scored a goal in the second half, as did Edgar Castro and Michael Ferrin. Nick Haberl had two second-half assists and Trenton Burrell also had an assist.


Coldwater 8, (at) Pennfield 0: Coldwater’s Nooh Aljabaly scored four goals in the win. Also for the Cardinals (10-2), Mohamed Aljabaly had a goal and two assists, Saleh Mousa had three assists and Scout Case had two assists. Coldwater’s Wageeh Saeed, Andrew Barnes and Bassam Ahmed all scored a goal and Sean Delaney added an assist. Delaney also had two saves in goal.

Portage Central 5, (at) Lakeview 0: Lakeview gave up five goals in the opening half as the Spartans fell to 14-2-1 on the year.

Loy Norrix 2, (at) BCC 0: The host Bearcats finished the SMAC portion of their schedule at 3-4. Carmelo Hernandez was in the nets for Battle Creek Central.


Hillsdale Academy 2-2, (at) Tekonsha 0-0: Hillsdale won both ends of the doubleheader — 25-16, 25-14 and 25-10, 25-8. For Tekonsha (3-11, 2-4 SCAA), Alexis Newbold had six digs, two aces, seven assists and two kills; Maya Kavenaugh had eight digs and three kills; and DeVanie Eckardt had 11 digs, three kills and two assists.
